With more than 40 years of news media experience as a journalist and a public relations professional, Anne helps others gain confidence in working with the news media, successfully communicating their messaging.
Throughout her career as a spokesperson for corporations, government entities and other organizations — including Disney, Albertson’s and Idaho Power — Anne has been on-call 24/7 for the news media, as well as provided media training and coaching to executives and subject-matter-experts. She also conducted media training at Boise State University as an adjunct professor teaching public relations in the Communications Department.
Anne retired from Idaho Power after nearly 15 years as a corporate communications specialist and company spokesperson. As an editor and writer with the company, she often took on the role of reporter for internal communications, including writing, producing and appearing on-camera in video eNews segments (available on YouTube).
Anne's knowledge of the news industry began while earning a Journalism degree at Idaho State University (ISU). Working in operations at KBGL-TV and qualifying for an FCC Third Class broadcast license, she soon became the first woman radio announcer in southeastern Idaho, working for KWIK and KSEI radio stations. Following her love of sports, Anne covered sports for CBS affiliate KIDK-TV, wrote features for the Idaho State Journal sports section, and served as ISU’s assistant sports information director.
While attending graduate school in California, Anne worked as a sportswriter covering high school football at the Orange County Register. Soon after, she accepted a position with Disneyland where she honed her skills in media relations as a senior publicist and spokesperson working with national and international media. She was then promoted to a public relations manager position with Walt Disney Productions in Burbank.
Anne’s personal life brought her back to Idaho, where she served as executive director for Idaho Special Olympics in Boise, eventually representing the northwest region on the organization’s U.S. Advisory Council. In the years that followed, Anne worked in news production at CBS affiliate KBCI-TV (now KBOI-TV) and wrote features for the Idaho Statesman and other publications as a freelance journalist. She returned to public relations positions, working with the news media and serving as a spokesperson for the City of Boise and the Mayor’s Office, Albertsons grocery stores, St. Luke’s Health System (producing two Children’s Miracle Network telethons on ABC affiliate KIVI-TV), Elks Rehabilitation Hospital and Idaho Power.
Anne relocated to Salem, Oregon, where she now enjoys helping others work with the news media, offering workshops, training and coaching as “The Media Coach.”
